History
Partido de ideología socialdemócrata fundado en 1879 por Pablo Iglesias Posse. Durante cien años se definió como un partido de clase obrera, socialista y marxista, hasta el Congreso Extraordinario de 1979, en el que abandonó el marxismo como definición ideológica. Se convirtió en uno de los dos partidos políticos mayoritarios de España, junto con el Partido Popular, habiendo gobernado el país durante la mayor parte del régimen constitucional iniciado en 1978, con las presidencias de Felipe González (1982-1996), José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (2004-2011) y Pedro Sánchez.
